Why I use the tool I complain about

You use your phone. You eat the meat. The question was never whether. It is how.

“Then why are you using AI? 🥴” they say, and they say it like checkmate.

I dunno. Why are you using a phone with slave-labor-sourced materials in it? Why are you eating meat from a factory where the cows were trapped in inhumane conditions? Hell, why are you so obsessed with making money if capitalism is so bad?

The gotcha assumes a clean world exists and I declined it. There is no clean world on offer. There is this one, where every tool worth anything arrives with a bill attached and somebody else already decided the terms. Refusing the tool does not cancel the bill. It just removes you from the field while everyone who stayed keeps playing.

So here is the actual framework, and it works on everything, sanctimony-free. Use your phone, but do not preach about slave labor while you scroll: maybe do something kind for someone, or volunteer. Complain about factory meat, and also use it to make your body strong enough to be useful. Use money as a means to escape what you can escape, and to lift the people around you on the way.

AI? Use it to create faster, smarter, augmented versions of the things you already do well. And never, ever let it steer: the machine does not get creative direction, and it does not get to decide for you.

That is the whole position. The long version, with a tractor and a syringe of Red 40, lives on the farm.
